Early Life and Education
Ainsley Earhardt was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. When she was a young child, her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Later, they moved to the Columbia, South Carolina, area. She finished high school at Spring Valley High School.
After high school, Ainsley first went to Florida State University. She then transferred to the University of South Carolina. There, she earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in journalism.
Career in Television and Writing
Starting in Local News
Ainsley Earhardt began her career in television even before she graduated from college. She was hired as a reporter for WLTX, a CBS station in Columbia, South Carolina. From 2000 to 2004, she worked as a morning and noon news anchor.
She covered important stories, like traveling to New York City after the September 11 attacks. She reported on how South Carolina middle school students raised money. They collected nearly half a million dollars to help firefighters buy a new fire truck. This truck replaced one lost at the World Trade Center site.
In 2005, Earhardt moved to San Antonio, Texas. There, she anchored morning and noon newscasts for television station KENS. While in Texas, she did many exciting things. She completed a half-marathon in Austin. She also went skydiving with the U.S. Army's Golden Knights.
