Akaa (called Ackas in Swedish) is a cool town and municipality in a region of Finland called Pirkanmaa. It was formed on January 1, 2007, when two towns, Toijala and Viiala, joined together. Later, in 2011, another area called Kylmäkoski also became part of Akaa.
As of 31 December 2023, Akaa has about 16,405 people living there. The total area of Akaa is about 314.38 square kilometres (121.38 sq mi). A small part of this area, about 21.24 km2 (8.20 sq mi), is water. This means there are about 55.94 inhabitants per square kilometre (144.9/sq mi) people living in each square kilometer.

Where is Akaa Located?
Akaa is surrounded by other municipalities like Hämeenlinna, Lempäälä, Urjala, Valkeakoski, and Vesilahti. The big city of Tampere, which is the capital of the Pirkanmaa region, is only about 43 kilometres (27 mi) north of Akaa.
Akaa, along with the towns of Toijala and Viiala, is located right by Vanajavesi lake. This lake is a very important waterway in the southern parts of the Pirkanmaa region.

In 2020, about 16.5% of the people in Akaa were under 15 years old. Most people, about 59.3%, were between 15 and 64 years old. About 24.2% of the population was over 65. The average age in Akaa was 44.6 years.
Most people in Akaa speak Finnish (about 97.4%). A very small number speak Swedish (0.2%), and about 2.4% speak other languages.
