Akihiro Nagashima, born on April 9, 1964, is a famous former Japanese football player. He was a forward, which means he played at the front of the team to score goals. He also played for Japan's national football team.

Early Career and Club Success
Akihiro Nagashima was born in Kobe, Japan. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Matsushita Electric in 1983. This club is now known as Gamba Osaka.
In 1984, his team was promoted to a higher league called the Japan Soccer League. They even won the Emperor's Cup in 1990, which is a big football tournament in Japan.
In 1992, the Japan Soccer League changed and a new league, the J1 League, was created. On June 5, 1993, Akihiro Nagashima made history. He scored three goals in one game against Nagoya Grampus Eight! This is called a hat-trick, and he was the first Japanese player to achieve this in the J1 League. In 1994, he moved to another team, Shimizu S-Pulse.
Playing for His Hometown Team
In January 1995, a very big earthquake, the Great Hanshin earthquake, happened in his hometown of Kobe. To help cheer up the people in the disaster area, Akihiro Nagashima moved to a local team called Vissel Kobe in June of that year.
His new team, Vissel Kobe, did very well. In 1996, they finished second in their league and were promoted to the J1 League. Akihiro Nagashima played 138 games for Vissel Kobe and scored 67 goals, showing how important he was to the team. He stopped playing professional football in 2000.
Playing for Japan
Akihiro Nagashima also had the honor of playing for the Japan national football team. His first game for Japan was on July 27, 1990, against South Korea. He played a total of four games for his country between 1990 and 1991.
Life After Football
Akihiro Nagashima has a daughter named Yūmi Nagashima, who was born on November 23, 1991. She is now an announcer for Fuji TV, a television station in Japan.
