Akintunde's Journey in Comedy

Akintunde first discovered his love for making people laugh when he was a student at Ramah Junior Academy in Savannah, Georgia. He found that humor was a great way to connect with his classmates.

Starting a Stand-Up Career

After working as a barber, Akintunde decided to become a full-time stand-up comedian in 1995. He traveled all over the United States, performing his comedy routines. He appeared on popular TV shows like BET's Comicview and the Turner South series That Comedy Show.

Akintunde also used his writing skills behind the scenes. He wrote jokes and material for the television show It's Showtime at the Apollo. He also wrote for famous comedians such as Monique and Chris Tucker.

Comedy and Faith

In 1999, Akintunde became a Christian. This was an important change in his life. He then adapted a book by Bishop Eddie L. Long called I Don't Want Delilah, I Need You into a movie screenplay.

Making Documentaries

Akintunde also co-produced a documentary about black comedians. It was called No Joke. He worked on this project with comedian J. Anthony Brown. The documentary showed what life was like for comedians on the road. It featured well-known comedians like Steve Harvey, Renaldo Ray, and Paul Mooney.

Akintunde and his wife, Eunissa, have five children. Their names are Akintunde II (born in 1994), Jaleel (born in 1996), Deja (born in 1997), Khalia (born in August 2000), and Elijah Prince (born in November 2002). The family lives in Columbia, South Carolina.
