Martin Alphonzo "Al" Wood (born June 2, 1958) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played for six seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Al Wood was known for his skills as a small forward and shooting guard.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Al Wood grew up in Gray, Georgia. He went to Jones County High School. During his high school years, he was a standout player. In 1977, he was chosen for the first-ever McDonald's All-American team. This team played in a special game called the Capital Classic.
College Career at North Carolina
After high school, Al Wood played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a very important player for his team.

In 1981, he was named a second-team All-American. He was also a two-time First-team All-ACC player in 1979 and 1981. His jersey number, 30, was later honored by the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Al Wood was a top pick in the 1981 NBA draft. The Atlanta Hawks chose him as the 4th player overall in the first round. He played for four different NBA teams during his career:
