Alagón is a town located in the province of Zaragoza, in the Aragon region of Spain. It is a municipality, which means it is a local government area.
In 2009, a count of the people living there, called a census, showed that Alagón had 7,195 residents. By 2018, this number had grown slightly to 7,094 people.
History of Alagón
Alagón has a long and interesting history. For a long time, during the period of Muslim rule in Spain, a Jewish community lived in the town. They were an important part of Alagón's society.
However, in 1492, a big change happened. The King and Queen of Spain ordered all Jewish people to leave the country. This event is known as the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. Because of this, the Jewish community in Alagón also left.
Famous People from Alagón
- Jesús Angoy (born 1966) is a well-known person from Alagón. He used to be a professional football goalkeeper in Spain. After his football career, he also played American football as a placekicker.
