Alamo is a city in Texas, United States. It is located in the Rio Grande Valley, a region often called the "Land of Two Summers." Alamo is in southern Hidalgo County.
This city is known as the "Refuge to the Valley." It has many farms that grow vegetables and citrus fruits. Alamo is also a popular place for people to visit or retire in the winter. It is close to the Mexico–U.S. border.
Alamo is a way to get into Mexico from the Rio Grande Valley. You can use U.S. Route 281 to reach Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas. It is also a gateway to the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge. In 2020, about 19,493 people lived in Alamo.

History of Alamo
Alamo was first planned out in 1909. It was named after the famous Alamo Mission in San Antonio. The word "Alamo" means "Cottonwood tree" in Spanish and Mexican.

Alamo is located in the southern part of Hidalgo County. It is next to the city of San Juan on its west side. To its east, you will find the city of Donna.
The city covers an area of about 18.4 square kilometers (7.1 square miles). All of this area is land.
