Alan Rockwell Abraham (born February 1, 1931 – died October 2, 2020) was an important leader in Nova Scotia, Canada. He served as the 27th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. This role is like the Queen's representative in the province.

A Lieutenant Governor is the official representative of the King or Queen of Canada in a Canadian province. They make sure the government works smoothly and represent the Crown at many events. They also give royal approval to new laws.

Alan Abraham's Career

Alan Abraham studied engineering at Saint Mary's University. After his studies, he became involved in Canadian federal politics. He helped organize trips for Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the Maritimes region.

In 1983, he was chosen to be the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. This decision was made by the Governor General Edward Schreyer, following advice from Prime Minister Trudeau. Alan Abraham was 53 years old when he took on this important role. He was one of the youngest people to become Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia since Canada was formed. He served in this position from February 1984 to February 1989. Alan Abraham passed away in 2020 at the age of 89.
