Albany Senior High School is a public high school where both boys and girls learn together. It's located in Albany, a regional town in the Great Southern area of Western Australia. Albany is about 420 km (260 miles) south-east of Perth. The school first opened in 1918.
In 2015, about 1,113 students from Year 7 to Year 12 attended the school. This included students from the local Albany area.

School Area
The school serves most of the Albany area. Some western parts of Albany go to North Albany Senior High School instead. This is decided by the Department of Education and Training.
School History
The school buildings were designed by William Hardwick, a well-known architect. They officially opened in 1924.
Upgrades and Changes
The school has had several big upgrades over the years.
- In 1997, the science labs, Design and Technology area, and home economics area were improved.
- In 2002, a new oval, gym, and performing arts centre were finished.
Student Numbers
The number of students at the school has changed over time.
- In 2007, there were 1,008 students.
- By 2015, the number grew to 1,113 students.
- A drop in numbers around 2010 happened because the age for Year 8 changed across the state.
- The increase in 2015 was due to a new group of Year 7 students joining the school.
Country Week Success
Albany Senior High School has a strong history in the State Country Week competition.
- They won the Champion School shield for five years in a row, from 2000 to 2004.
- The school won the shield again in 2010 and 2011.
- In 2012, they were runners-up to Bunbury Senior High School, but their football team won its third championship in a row.
- They were runners-up again in 2013 and 2014 before winning the overall championship once more in 2015.
Academic Achievements
The school has also done well academically.
- In 2013, it was ranked 39th among all schools in Western Australia for WACE results. WACE is the Western Australian Certificate of Education, like a final exam for high school.
- In 2014, Albany Senior High School was named the top country school and ranked 27th in the entire state.
School Principals
Peter Havel was a long-serving principal who left the school in 2015. He was followed by Brendan France, and then Melissa Walker became principal in 2021.
