Albany Senior High School is a public high school in Albany, Western Australia. It teaches both boys and girls from Year 7 to Year 12. The school is located in the Great Southern region, about 420 kilometers (260 miles) south-east of Perth.

The school first opened its doors in 1918. In 2015, about 1,113 students were enrolled.

More improvements happened in 2002. A new sports oval, a gymnasium, and a performing arts center were built.

The number of students at the school has changed over time. In 2007, there were 1008 students. By 2015, this number grew to 1113 students. The school now has 835 students as of 2024.

Sports Achievements

Albany Senior High School has a strong history in sports. They won the State Country Week Champion School title five years in a row, from 2000 to 2004.

They won the champion shield again in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, they were the runner-up champion school. However, they did win their third football premiership in a row that year.

The school was runner-up again in 2013 and 2014. They then won the overall championship once more in 2015.

Academic Success

Albany Senior High School has also done very well academically. In 2013, the school was ranked 39th in the state for its WACE results. WACE is the Western Australian Certificate of Education, which students get at the end of high school.

In 2014, the school was named the top country school in Western Australia. It was ranked 27th overall in the state that year.

The school has had several principals. Peter Havel was a long-serving principal who left in 2015. Brendan France took over, and then Melissa Walker became the principal in 2021. She is still the principal today.
