Alberto D'Ascola (born July 4, 1977) is an Italian reggae artist. He is famous by his stage name, Alborosie. People sometimes call him the "Italian Reggae Ambassador" because of his love for reggae music.

Alborosie's Music Journey
Starting Out in Italy
Alborosie, whose real name is Alberto D'Ascola, was born in Marsala, Sicily, Italy. He grew up there and learned to play many instruments. He is good at guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard.
When he was just 15 years old in 1993, he started his music career. He joined an Italian reggae band called Reggae National Tickets
. In the band, he was known as Stena.Moving to Jamaica
In 2001, Alborosie decided to start his own music career. He moved to Kingston, Jamaica, which is the home of reggae music. He wanted to learn more about reggae and the Rastafari culture.
In Jamaica, he worked as a sound engineer and producer. This means he helped record and mix music for other artists. He even worked with famous musicians like Gentleman and Ky-Mani Marley.
His first solo album was called Soul Pirate. Later, in 2009, he released his second album, Escape from Babylon. Alborosie has performed at many music festivals around the world.
How He Got His Name
The name "Alborosie" came from a nickname he got when he first moved to Jamaica. He explained that "Borosie" was a negative name people used for him. He decided to use it to turn something negative into something positive. Since his real name is Albert, he added "Al" to make "Alborosie."
Albums and Success
Soul Pirate and Escape From Babylon
In 2006, Alborosie released his first album, Soul Pirate. It had popular songs like "Rastafari Anthem," "Kingston Town," and "Call Up Jah." He released this album on his own record label, Forward Recordings.
His second album, Escape From Babylon, came out in 2009. It was released by Greensleeves Records. Over the years, Alborosie has played concerts all over the world, including many places in Europe and Jamaica. In 2010, he also released a collection of songs called Escape from Babylon to the Kingdom of Zion.
More Albums and Awards
Alborosie released his first dub album, Dub Clash, in 2010. Then came his third album, 2 Times Revolution. In 2011, Alborosie made history. He became the first white artist to win a M.O.B.O. (Music of Black Origin) Award in the Best Reggae Act category. This was a big achievement!
His fourth album, Sound The System, was released in 2013. He also released a dub version of it called Dub the System in the same year. In 2014, he put out another collection of songs, Sound the System Showcase.
Working with Other Artists
Alborosie has worked with many other reggae artists. He made a dub album with King Jammy called Dub of Thrones – With King Jammy in 2013.
In 2014, a special album called Specialist Presents Alborosie & Friends was released. It featured Alborosie working with other reggae stars. This album became very popular and reached number 7 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart.
He worked with King Jammy again on another dub album, Reality of Dub, in 2015. Also in 2015, his first album, Soul Pirate, was re-released as a special "Deluxe Remastered Edition." It included four songs that had never been released before.
Recent Albums
In May 2016, Alborosie's fifth album, Freedom & Fyah, was released. Later that year, an acoustic (unplugged) version of his Soul Pirate album came out. He also released his sixth studio album, The Rockers, in August 2016.
He continued to release dub albums, including Freedom in Dub in 2017.
Collaborations with Legendary Bands
His seventh album, Unbreakable: Alborosie Meets The Wailers United, came out in 2018. It was very successful, reaching number 6 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. This album showed his strong connection to the roots of reggae.
In 2019, Alborosie worked with another famous reggae band, Roots Radics. They released the album Alborosie Meets the Roots Radics: Dub for the Radicals.
For The Culture
On June 4, 2021, Alborosie released his eighth studio album, In The Culture. He wrote, produced, and performed the fourteen songs during the COVID-19 pandemic. He used old-school equipment and worked with the Roots Radics band. The album also featured special guest artists like Collie Buddz, Jo Mersa Marley, Quino from Big Mountain, and The Wailing Souls.
In December 2021, Alborosie's album For The Culture was nominated for the "2021 Album of the Year" award by Surf Roots TV & Radio. Fans voted for their favorite album on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This was his first nomination with this reggae TV channel.

Alberto D'Ascola was born on July 4, 1977, in Marsala, Sicily, Italy. His father was a policeman, and his mother was a housewife.
Alborosie became very interested in reggae music when he was young. He joined the band Reggae National Tickets in 1992 when he was 15 years old. Today, he is a citizen of both Italy and Jamaica.
