Alberto D'Ascola, born on July 4, 1977, is a talented Italian reggae musician. Many people know him by his stage name, Alborosie. He is sometimes called the "Italian Reggae Ambassador" because he shares reggae music with the world.

How Alborosie Started in Music
Alberto D'Ascola grew up in Marsala, Sicily, Italy. He is a very skilled musician who can play many instruments. These include the guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard.
His music career began when he was just 15 years old in 1993. He joined an Italian reggae band called Reggae National Tickets
. In that band, he was known as Stena.In 2001, Alborosie decided to start his own solo career. He moved to Jamaica, which is where reggae music began. He wanted to be closer to the roots of reggae and the Rastafari culture.
Becoming Alborosie: A New Name
In Jamaica, he started working as a sound engineer and producer. He even worked with famous artists like Gentleman and Ky-Mani Marley. His first solo album was named Soul Pirate.
The name "Alborosie" came from a nickname he got in Jamaica. He decided to use it to turn something negative into something positive. He added "Al" from his real name, Albert, to "Borosie."
Early Solo Albums: Soul Pirate and Escape From Babylon
In 2006, Alborosie released his first album, Soul Pirate. This album featured popular songs like "Rastafari Anthem" and "Kingston Town." He released it on his own record label, Forward Recordings.
His second album, Escape From Babylon, came out in 2009. It was released by Greensleeves Records. Alborosie has performed concerts all over the world, including many places in Europe and Jamaica. In 2010, he also released a collection of songs called Escape from Babylon to the Kingdom of Zion.
New Sounds: Dub Clash and 2 Times Revolution
Alborosie released his first dub album, Dub Clash, in 2010. Then, his third album, 2 Times Revolution, came out.
In 2011, Alborosie made history. He became the first white artist to win a M.O.B.O. (Music of Black Origin) Award. He won in the Best Reggae Act category.
His fourth album, Sound The System, was released in 2013. He also released a dub version of it called Dub the System that same year. In 2014, he put out a collection of songs called Sound the System Showcase.
Working with Other Artists and Remastered Music
Alborosie worked with King Jammy on a dub album called Dub of Thrones – With King Jammy. This album was released in 2013.
In 2014, Greensleeves Records released Specialist Presents Alborosie & Friends. This album was a collection of songs where Alborosie collaborated with other reggae artists. It even reached #7 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart.
He worked with King Jammy again on another dub album, Reality of Dub, which came out in early 2015. Also in 2015, his first album, Soul Pirate, was re-released. It was a special "Deluxe Remastered Edition" with four new songs.
Recent Albums: Freedom & Fyah and The Rockers
In May 2016, Alborosie's fifth album, Freedom & Fyah, was released. Later in 2016, an acoustic version of his Soul Pirate album came out. He also released his sixth studio album, The Rockers, on August 24, 2016.
In 2017, he released another dub album called Freedom in Dub.
Collaborations with Famous Reggae Bands
His seventh album, Unbreakable: Alborosie Meets The Wailers United, came out in 2018. This album reached #6 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
In 2019, Alborosie worked with the band Roots Radics on the album Alborosie Meets the Roots Radics: Dub for the Radicals.
For The Culture Album
On June 4, 2021, Alborosie released his eighth studio album, In The Culture. He wrote, produced, and performed all fourteen songs during the COVID-19 pandemic. He used old-style recording equipment and worked with the Roots Radics band.
Special guest artists on the album included Collie Buddz, Jo Mersa Marley, Quino from Big Mountain, and The Wailing Souls. Alborosie had also produced the latest album for The Wailing Souls.
In December 2021, Alborosie was nominated for the "2021 Album of the Year" award. This was a fans-choice award by Surf Roots TV & Radio. Fans voted on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It was the first time his band was nominated by this reggae rock TV channel.
Alborosie's Life
Alberto D'Ascola was born on July 4, 1977, in Marsala, Sicily, Italy. His father was a police officer, and his mother was a homemaker.
He became interested in reggae music and joined the band Reggae National Tickets in 1992. He was 15 years old at the time. Alborosie is now a citizen of both Italy and Jamaica.
