About Albreda Lake
Albreda Lake is not very big. It is about 240 meters (787 feet) long and 100 meters (328 feet) wide. Even though it's small, it plays a role in the local environment.
Water Flow and Connections
The main river that flows into Albreda Lake is the Albreda River, which enters from the northeast. The same Albreda River also flows out of the lake from the southeast.
This river then connects to a series of larger rivers:
- First, it joins the North Thompson River.
- The North Thompson River then flows into the Thompson River.
- Finally, the Thompson River empties into the mighty Fraser River.
- The Fraser River then carries all this water to the Pacific Ocean.
Nearby Transport Routes
The small area called Albreda is located about 900 meters (2,953 feet) north of the lake. Important transportation routes pass right by the lake's eastern shore. These include:
- British Columbia Highway 5: This is a major road that people use to travel through the region.
- Canadian National Railway: This is a very busy railway line. It's part of the transcontinental (coast-to-coast) main line. This railway is used by freight trains carrying goods and also by the famous Canadian passenger train run by Via Rail.
