Alderbranch is a small, quiet place in Anderson County, Texas. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. In 2000, only about five people lived there. It's near the city of Palestine, Texas.

History of Alderbranch
Alderbranch has a long history, even though it's a small community today.
Early Days and Growth
A post office opened in Alderbranch in 1863. It helped people send and receive mail until 1913. The community's name was first "Alder Branch" but changed to one word in the 1930s.
In the early 1880s, B.F. Chambers started a sawmill here. A sawmill is a place where logs are cut into lumber. By 1884, Alderbranch had several businesses. There were water-powered sawmills, two churches, and two general stores. People also used cotton gins, which are machines that separate cotton fibers from their seeds.
By 1896, the community had a Methodist church and a Baptist church. It also had two sawmills, two cotton gins, and a flour mill. There was one general store for people to buy supplies.
Population Changes
Alderbranch's population changed a lot over the years. In 1884, about 40 people lived there. The most people ever living in Alderbranch was around 60, around 1890.
However, the population started to decrease. By 1896, only 30 people lived there. In the 1930s, the number dropped to 25. By the year 2000, only five people called Alderbranch home.
Community Spirit During a Storm
On April 18, 2019, a strong storm hit Alderbranch. One family's home was pushed off its foundation by the wind. The roof was also blown off.
After the storm, neighbors quickly helped the family. They brought food, offered shelter, and provided supplies. This shows the strong community spirit in Alderbranch.
Geography of Alderbranch
Alderbranch is located in southeastern Anderson County. It sits along Farm to Market Road 323. This road is about 11 miles (18 km) southeast of Palestine. The community is also near a stream called Alder Branch of Squirrel Creek.
Education in Alderbranch
In 1884, Alderbranch had its own school district. This school was no longer operating by 1896. Today, students in the Alderbranch area attend schools in the Slocum Independent School District.
