Alderdale is a place in Klickitat County, Washington. It is known as an "extinct town." This means it was once a town where people lived, but now it is empty. The government still lists it as a "populated place."
History of Alderdale
Alderdale started in 1907. That year, a post office opened in the town. The post office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open for a long time, finally closing in 1962.
In 1917, Alderdale was also a busy train station. It was a stop on the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway line. Trains would stop there, connecting the town to other places.
The town got its name from a nearby stream. This stream was called Alder Creek.
