Aldine is a community in Harris County, Texas, United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area defined by the government for counting people, but it's not officially a city. Aldine is located close to Houston and is near the George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

In 2020, about 16,000 people lived in Aldine. The community is easy to reach because it's located along the Hardy Toll Road, a major railroad, and Farm to Market Road 525.

History of Aldine

Aldine was built along the International–Great Northern Railroad. It got its name from a local farm family who lived there. The community had its own post office from 1896 until 1935. After that, mail was delivered from Houston.

In 1914, Aldine was a small farming area. It had two general stores, a fig preserver, and many poultry and dairy farms. The population grew to about 100 people in 1925. However, in the 1930s and 1940s, the number of residents dropped to around 30 or 40.

A big change happened in 1965 when the Aldine Independent School District became integrated. This meant students of all backgrounds could attend the same schools. The community started growing again in the 1970s. By 1986, Aldine had over 12,000 residents.

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey caused a lot of damage in the Aldine area. More than 60% of the homes were affected by the storm. Even in 2018, many people were still working to recover from the hurricane's impact.
