Aldo Vannucchi was born on September 24, 1928. He is a well-known educator from Sorocaba, Brazil. He used to be the head, or rector, of the University of Sorocaba (UNISO).
He was born in São João da Boa Vista, in the state of São Paulo. His parents were Elvira Betiole and José Vannucchi. In 1932, when he was a young child, his family moved to Sorocaba.

Early Life and Priesthood
Aldo Vannucchi became a priest in 1952. He was ordained by Don Aguirre, who was the first Bishop of Sorocaba. Don Aguirre also helped start the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters. This school was a big inspiration for Aldo.
Aldo Vannucchi spent 20 years as a priest. He learned that the true Church should be for everyone. He believed it should be built from the experiences of ordinary people.
Facing Challenges
During a time when Brazil was under military rule, Aldo Vannucchi faced difficulties. He was arrested for one night because of false accusations. This happened because he was involved in helping working-class people. He was released after other religious leaders in Brazil stepped in.
His nephew, Alexandre Vannucchi Leme, was a student at the University of São Paulo. Sadly, Alexandre passed away during this time. He became a symbol of the struggle for freedom and human rights.
A New Path in Education
In 1963, Aldo Vannucchi decided to leave the priesthood. He then married Rosalia Cortez Vannucchi. They have two children, a son named João Estêvão Cortez Vannucchi and a daughter named Ana Maria Cortez Vannucchi.
After leaving the clergy, he focused completely on teaching. He worked as a director and a professor of Philosophy. He taught in many schools and colleges in Sorocaba.
Founding a University
Aldo Vannucchi played a key role in creating the University of Sorocaba (UNISO). He worked hard for this university to be established. UNISO was officially recognized in September 1994. Aldo Vannucchi served as its first rector until 2010.
Achievements and Contributions
Aldo Vannucchi has a Master's degree in theology and Philosophy. He also took many special courses at universities. These universities were in places like Rome, Geneva, and Louvain in Belgium.
He has written more than ten books himself. He has also translated many other books.
He was the president of ABRUC. This is a group that connects about 50 community colleges in Brazil. The Minister of Education in Brazil also chose Aldo Vannucchi. He helped form the National Council of Education for the country.
