Aledo (pronounced "uh-LEE-doh") is a city in Parker County, Texas, in the United States. It's a growing community that had a population of 4,858 people in 2020. The city is served by the Aledo Independent School District, which helps educate the local students.

History of Aledo
The area where Aledo now stands first had a post office named Parker in 1880. This was set up by Littleberry Rudolph Fawks. Just two years later, in 1882, the name was changed to Aledo. It's thought that an official from the Texas & Pacific Railway suggested the new name, possibly inspired by Aledo, Illinois. Eli J. McConnell became the first postmaster of Aledo on May 25, 1882.
Geography and Climate
Aledo is located in Parker County, Texas. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers about 1.9 square miles (4.9 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.
