Aleksandra Soldatova (born June 1, 1998) is a former rhythmic gymnast from Russia. She was known for her amazing flexibility and turns. Aleksandra won many medals during her career.

She earned a bronze medal in the All-around competition at the 2018 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships. She also became the World champion in ribbon that same year. In 2016, she was the All-around champion at the Grand Prix Final. She also won the Russian National All-around title.

As a junior gymnast, she won the ribbon title at the 2012 European Junior Championships. She also won two medals at the Russian Junior National All-around championships. Aleksandra retired from competitive gymnastics on December 24, 2020.

Early Life and Family

Aleksandra Soldatova started training in rhythmic gymnastics when she was five years old. On January 21, 2023, she shared on Instagram that she was expecting a baby. She welcomed her baby boy, Nikolai Dmitrievich, on March 21, 2023.

Junior Career Highlights

Aleksandra first appeared on the international junior scene in 2011. She won gold medals at the Junior Irina Deleanu Cup. She also helped her team, Gazprom, win gold at the 2011 Aeon Cup in Japan.

In 2012, she had a very successful junior season.

  • She won gold in the All-around at the Schmiden International Tournament.
  • She also won gold with her team at the 2012 MTM Ljubljana.
  • Aleksandra won the All-around title at the 2012 Sofia Junior World Cup.
  • At the 2012 European Junior Championships, she won gold in ribbon. Her team also won the junior team gold medal.

In 2013, she won the All-around gold at the Russian Spartakiada's 6th Summer Student Games. She also won gold in ribbon and silver in clubs and hoop.

Senior Career Highlights

2014: First Steps as a Senior

In 2014, Aleksandra started competing as a senior gymnast. She won a bronze medal at the 2014 Moscow Grand Prix. She then won her first World Cup gold medal in the All-around at the 2014 Debrecen World Cup.

She also won gold in clubs and ribbon, and silver in ball at this event. At the 2014 Russian Championships, she earned a bronze medal in the All-around. Aleksandra helped Russia win the Team gold medal at the 2014 World Championships.

2015: More Medals and Team Gold

Aleksandra continued to shine in 2015. She won the All-around gold at the 2015 Lisboa World Cup. She also won gold in clubs and silver in ball at the same event.

She was part of the Russian team that won gold at the 2015 European Championships. At the 2015 World Championships, she helped Russia win another Team gold. She also won silver medals in hoop and clubs.

2016: Grand Prix Champion

The 2016 season was very successful for Aleksandra. She won the All-around gold at the 2016 Moscow Grand Prix. She also won gold in hoop and ball.

She won All-around gold medals at the 2016 Espoo World Cup and the 2016 Lisboa World Cup. Aleksandra became the All-around champion at the 2016 Russian Championships. She finished her season by winning the All-around gold at the 2016 Grand Prix Final in Israel. She also swept all the gold medals in the individual apparatus finals there.

2017: Overcoming Challenges

In 2017, Aleksandra continued to perform well. She won All-around gold at the 2017 Grand Prix Marbella. She also won gold in hoop and silver in ball and ribbon at the 2017 Pesaro World Cup.

She was part of the Russian team that won gold at the 2017 European Championships. She also won two silver medals in hoop and ball. Aleksandra faced an ankle injury this year but still won All-around gold at the 2017 Minsk World Challenge Cup.

2018: World Championships Success

Aleksandra started 2018 strong, winning All-around gold at the 2018 Sofia World Cup. She also won gold in hoop and ball. At the 2018 Tashkent World Cup, she won All-around gold and swept all the gold medals in the apparatus finals.

At the 2018 World Championships in Sofia, she won a bronze medal in the All-around. She also became the World champion in ribbon and won a silver medal in ball.

2019: Final Victories

In 2019, Aleksandra continued to win. She earned four gold medals at the Tashkent World Cup. She also won five gold medals at the Guadalajara World Challenge Cup. At the European Championships in Baku, she won two silver medals in ball and ribbon. She also won the All-around gold at the Portimão World Challenge Cup.

2020: Retirement

Aleksandra did not compete during the 2020 season. She announced her retirement from gymnastics on December 24, 2020. She took time off to focus on her health before retiring.

Gymnastics Style

Aleksandra Soldatova was known for her amazing flexibility and turns. She could do very difficult moves like a quintuple penchee turn (five turns on one leg with her body bent forward) and a quadruple ring pivot (four turns with her leg in a ring shape). She could also complete a quadruple double backscale pivot.
