Alessandra Carina Mastronardi (born February 18, 1986) is a talented Italian actress. She is famous for her roles in movies like To Rome with Love and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. She also starred in the TV series Master of None, which earned her a nomination for a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2017.
Early Life
Alessandra was born in Naples, Campania, Italy. Her father was from Agnone and her mother from Naples. When she was five years old, her family moved to Rome, where she grew up. She went to a special high school called a Classical Lyceum, which focuses on classic subjects. Later, she studied performing arts at the Sapienza University of Rome. Before that, she had also studied psychology at the same university.
Career Highlights
Alessandra started her acting career in 1997. Her first role was in the TV show Un prete tra noi. She then appeared in other TV series like Amico mio 2 (1998) and Don Matteo 5 (2006). She also had small parts in films such as Il manoscritto di Van Hecken (1999) and The Beast in the Heart (2003).
Alessandra became very well-known in Italy in 2006. This was when she joined the cast of I Cesaroni, an Italian TV series. She played Eva Cudicini, a shy and romantic young girl. In 2006, she also appeared in the music video for "Stai bene come stai" by the band Le Mani.
In 2007, Alessandra performed in her first play, "The Prozac Family." She played the character of Margherita. Later that year, she starred in the movie Prova a volare with Riccardo Scamarcio.
In 2008, she returned for the second season of I Cesaroni. She also appeared in the TV miniseries Romanzo criminale – La serie. In 2009, the third season of I Cesaroni began. Alessandra then got an important role in the TV film Non smettere di sognare, where she played a young dancer named Stella.
A big moment in her career was in 2012. She played Milly, a young bride, in the movie To Rome with Love, directed by the famous Woody Allen.
In 2017, she joined the cast of the Netflix show Master of None for its second season, playing the character Francesca. The next year, in 2018, she played the witch Gelica in the movie Ötzi and the mystery of time. In 2019, she was Lucrezia Donati in the Netflix series Medici: Masters of Florence. In 2022, she appeared in the Lionsgate movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent alongside Nicolas Cage.
Alessandra also entered the world of video games in 2024. She voiced Gina Lombardi, an Italian journalist, in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Her performance was highly praised by Wired magazine.
