Riccardo's Early Life
Riccardo Scamarcio was born in Trani, a town in Apulia, Italy. His mother, Irene Petrafesa, is a painter. He decided to become an actor and trained at the National School of Cinema in Rome. He still lives in Rome today.
Riccardo's Acting Career
Riccardo Scamarcio started his acting journey in a TV series in 2000. His first main role in a movie was in Three Steps Over Heaven (2004). This movie made him very popular in Italy, especially with young people. Because of his success, many directors wanted him for their films.

In 2005, Riccardo acted in Texas. He also joined the cast of Romanzo Criminale, where he played a quiet but strong character in a story about a crime group.
In 2006, he appeared in The Black Arrow, a TV series based on a book by Robert Louis Stevenson. He also took on four new movie roles, including My Brother Is an Only Child (2007). For his work in this film, he was nominated for a David di Donatello award, which is a big award in Italian cinema. He also appeared in Manual of Love 2 (2007), Ho voglia di te (2007), and Go Go Tales (2007).

Riccardo continued to work on many films. In 2008, he starred in At a Glance. In 2009, he was in the comedy Italians and The Big Dream, which was set in Italy in 1968. He also played an immigrant character in Eden à l'Ouest. In The Cézanne Affair (2009), he acted alongside his partner at the time, Valeria Golino.
One of his most praised performances was in Valeria Golino's 2018 movie Euforia. He also played a villain, Santino D'Antonio, in the action movie John Wick: Chapter 2.
In 2024, Riccardo starred as the main character in the Netflix movie Vanished into the Night. This film was very popular and made it into Netflix's top 10 list in July 2024.
Riccardo's Personal Life
From 2006 to 2016, Riccardo Scamarcio was in a relationship with actress and director Valeria Golino. Even after they broke up, they continued to work together and remained good friends. Riccardo has a daughter, who was born in 2020. Since 2021, he has been in a relationship with Italian actress Benedetta Porcaroli.
