Alexander Pereira Cardoso (born March 15, 1975), better known as Alex Mineiro, is a former Brazilian football player. He played as a striker, which means he was mainly responsible for scoring goals for his team.

Playing Career Highlights
Alex Mineiro started his football journey in Brazil. He played for several important clubs throughout his career.
Early Career in Brazil
He began his youth career at América-MG from 1994 to 1995. He then joined their senior team in 1996.
In 1997, Alex Mineiro moved to Cruzeiro. With Cruzeiro, he won the prestigious Copa Libertadores in 1997. This is one of the biggest club competitions in South American football. He also helped them win the Minas Gerais State Championship that same year.
He later played for Vitória in 1998 and Bahia in 1999. He returned to Cruzeiro briefly in 2000.
Success with Atlético Paranaense
Alex Mineiro found great success with Atlético Paranaense. He played there from 2001 to 2002. During this time, he helped the team win the Brazilian Série A championship in 2001. This is Brazil's top football league. He also won the Paraná State Championship in 2001.
He had another spell with Atlético Paranaense from 2003 to 2007. He won the Paraná State Championship again in 2005.
Playing Abroad
Alex Mineiro also played football outside of Brazil. In 2002-2003, he played for Tigres UANL in Mexico.
Later, from 2005 to 2006, he was on loan to Kashima Antlers in Japan. He scored 25 goals in 58 league games for them.
Later Career and Retirement
After his time in Japan, Alex Mineiro returned to Brazil. He played for Palmeiras in 2008. With Palmeiras, he won the São Paulo State Championship. He was also the top scorer in that competition in 2008.
He then played for Grêmio in 2009 and had a final stint with Atlético Paranaense from 2009 to 2010 before ending his professional career.
