Alexa Demie is an American actress. She is well-known for playing Maddy Perez, a high school student, in the HBO teen drama TV series Euphoria (2019–present).
Demie first appeared in a movie with a small part in the comedy-drama Brigsby Bear (2017). She then had roles in the coming-of-age film Mid90s (2018) and the drama film Waves (2019). She has also been in many music videos.

Early Life and Creative Beginnings
Alexa Demie was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a neighborhood called Atwater Village. Her mother, Rose Mendez, was a make-up artist. Her family moved to Los Angeles from Mexico when her mother was a baby.
Demie has said that her home life was sometimes difficult. She also mentioned that she was bullied by other students from elementary school through high school. During this time, she often felt like a "loner." She became interested in performing arts during her last year of high school.
While in high school, Demie started a sunglasses brand called Mainframe. She decorated sunglasses she bought and sold them at a store. Her brand became popular in other countries, and famous people like G-Dragon, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and Amber Rose wore her glasses. Her designs even appeared in Vogue Korea. However, she stopped making them because she wasn't paid for her work.
Also in high school, she began writing songs. She even designed a costume for one of Nicki Minaj's first music videos. Demie first planned to become a fashion designer, but she changed her mind after visiting an art school in New York.
Acting and Music Career
Demie's first appearance on screen was in Azealia Banks' 2013 music video for the song "ATM Jam". Her acting career officially started with a role in the 2015 short film Miles. This film helped her find an agency to represent her.
She later appeared as a guest star on TV shows like Ray Donovan and Love. She also guest-starred in the second season of The OA as Ingrid, a gamer who spoke two languages.
In 2016, Demie released her first song, "Girl Like Me." She was also featured on Pearl's song "Turnin' Tricks." She appeared in the music video for JMSN's 2017 song "Slide." Her first movie role was in the 2017 comedy-drama film Brigsby Bear, where she played Merideth. In July 2018, she directed the music video for JMSN's song "Talk is Cheap" with Natalie Falt.
Demie became more widely known for her role in the 2018 film Mid90s. This movie was written and directed by Jonah Hill. Demie played Esmee, who was the main character's love interest.
After trying out for another film without success, Demie was asked to audition for the HBO drama series Euphoria. She was impressed by the script and decided to audition, even though she had planned to focus on her music. In 2019, she began starring in Euphoria as Maddy Perez. Maddy is a popular teenage girl who has a complicated relationship with football player Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Demie worked closely with the show's makeup artists to create Maddy's unique look. Many critics have called Demie one of the breakout stars of Euphoria.
Demie also starred in the 2019 film Waves as Alexis. Alexis is a teenager who faces challenges with her boyfriend, a high school wrestler played by Kelvin Harrison Jr.. Demie used her own experiences to help her understand the character. In 2020, she appeared in the comedy-drama film Mainstream as Isabelle Roberts. She also made a brief appearance in The Neighbourhood's 2020 music video for "Stargazing." In September 2021, she released another song called "Leopard Limo (Archive LL11)."
Demie is also set to be a voice actor in an upcoming animated series called Fables.
