Early Life and Creative Beginnings
Alexa Demie was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a neighborhood called Atwater Village. Her mother, Rose Mendez, was a make-up artist. Alexa's family moved to Los Angeles from Mexico when her mother was a baby.
Alexa has shared that her family was very supportive. However, she also mentioned that her home life was sometimes difficult. As a teenager, she left home for a while. During her school years, Alexa felt like a loner and was sometimes treated unkindly by other students. She found her passion for performing arts in her last year of high school.
While in high school, Alexa started a business making and selling sunglasses. Her brand, Mainframe, became popular even overseas. Famous people like G-Dragon, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and Amber Rose wore her glasses. Her designs were even shown in Vogue Korea. However, she stopped making them because she wasn't paid for her work. She also wrote songs and designed a costume for one of Nicki Minaj's early music videos. Alexa thought about becoming a fashion designer but decided to focus on acting instead.

In 2019, Alexa began starring in Euphoria as Maddy Perez. Maddy is a popular teenager who has a complicated relationship with Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Alexa worked closely with the show's makeup artists to create Maddy's unique look. Many critics have called Alexa one of the breakout stars of Euphoria.
