Alexander Home, 2nd Lord Home facts for kids
Alexander Home, 2nd Lord Home (born around 1450s – died September 5, 1506) was an important Scottish nobleman and soldier. He held powerful positions like Lord Chamberlain of Scotland and Warden of the Eastern March. These roles meant he was a key advisor to the king and helped protect Scotland's borders.
A Life of Influence
Lord Home was the son of Alexander Home, Master of Home, and Agnes Hepburn. He became Lord Home in 1492, taking over from his grandfather, Alexander Home, 1st Lord Home.
He played a big part in the Battle of Sauchieburn in 1488. This battle was important because it led to King James III being replaced by his son, James IV. After the battle, Alexander Home became a privy councillor. This meant he was a trusted advisor to the young King James IV. He was also made Lord Chamberlain, a high-ranking official who managed the royal household.
In June 1497, Lord Home worked with the Earl of Angus. They held talks to arrange the surrender of Perkin Warbeck. Warbeck was a person who pretended to be an English prince.
Family Life
Lord Home was married two times. His first wife was Isabel Douglas. They had one daughter together, Anna Home. Anna later married Sir William Cockburn of Langton.
His second wife was Nichola Ker. With Nichola, he had several children:

- George Home, who became the 4th Lord Home.
- John Home, who became the Abbot of Jedburgh.
- Patrick Home.
- William Home.
- Andrew Home.
- David Home, who became the Prior of Coldingham.
- Elizabeth Home, who married Thomas Hay, and later married James Hamilton.
- Mariota Home, who married John Lindsay.
- Nichola Home, who married Andrew Herries, and later married Patrick Hepburn.
