Early Life and Education
Alexandre Paul was born in Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti. He completed all his school years at the Petit Seminaire College St Martial. After finishing high school, he went on to earn a degree from the Hautes Etudes Internationales et Diplomatie, which was a new university at the time.
He later studied law and earned a law license. He also studied Government and Politics at St. John's University in New York, USA. In 1993, he earned a special law degree called a Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University.
Diplomatic Career
Mr. Paul worked at the National Bank for 14 years. After that, he became a Minister Counsellor for Haiti at the United Nations, where he served for three years. He was then transferred to the Bahamas, serving there for six years.
Later, he worked as a diplomat in England and then as the Consul General in Miami, Florida. During his four years in Miami, he was an important diplomat. His job as Consul General in Miami ended in 1986 when the government in Haiti changed.
Legal Work and Presidential Run
In 1993, Alexandre Paul became the head attorney for the electoral counsel, which is a group that helps organize elections. He was known for defending Haitians using legal methods.
After spending some time in Haiti, he became convinced that one person could make a big difference. This belief led him to run as a presidential candidate. As a candidate, he spoke about the importance of respecting laws for the benefit of everyone, no matter their social standing.
He also wrote many articles for newspapers. His writings appeared in Haitian newspapers like Le Nouvelliste and Le Matin. He also wrote for the Nassau Guardian in the Bahamas and the Miami Herald in Florida.

Alexandre Paul is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He joined the church in 1980 when he was working as a diplomat in the Bahamas. As of 2010, Mr. Paul was living in Provo, Utah, in the United States.
