History of Alfordsville
Alfordsville was officially started in 1845. It was named after an early settler in the area, James Alford. A post office was opened in Alfordsville in 1856. This office helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years. It was finally closed in 1968.
Geography of Alfordsville
Alfordsville is in the southeastern part of Daviess County. It is located in a hilly area. The town is northwest of a city called Jasper. County Road 650 connects Alfordsville to U.S. Route 231 to the east.
