Alfoz (pronounced al-FOTH) is a small area, like a town or district, located in Spain. It is part of the Galician region and belongs to the Province of Lugo. This area is also found within the A Mariña Central region.
Alfoz shares its borders with several other nearby areas. These include Foz, Mondoñedo, Abadín, and O Valadouro. In 2008, about 2,133 people lived in Alfoz.
Did you know that Alfoz has a cool geographic connection? It is the antipodes of the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. This means if you dug a straight tunnel right through the center of the Earth from Alfoz, you would come out near that university!
