He played for Vasco da Gama for a long time, from 1924 to 1933, which shows how important he was to the team. Later, in 1934, he returned to Bangu A.C. for his final season before retiring.

Representing Brazil

Brilhante also had the honor of playing for the Brazil national team. He was part of the Brazilian squad that traveled to the first-ever FIFA World Cup in 1930.
