Alfredo Ramos de Oliveira (born October 27, 1924, died July 31, 2012) was a famous Brazilian football player. He was a strong defender on the field. People often called him just Alfredo or Polvo, which means 'Octopus' in Portuguese.

Alfredo Ramos: A Football Star
Alfredo played for several big teams in Brazil during his career. He started at Santos from 1947 to 1951. After that, he moved to São Paulo, where he played for many years, from 1951 to 1958. Later, he also played for Corinthians from 1958 to 1960.
His Playing Career
Alfredo played a lot of games, showing how important he was to his teams. He played a total of 633 matches! Even though he was a defender, he managed to score 3 goals in his career. This shows he was always focused on defending his team's goal.
One of his biggest achievements was winning the Campeonato Paulista (São Paulo State Championship). He won this important tournament twice with São Paulo FC, first in 1953 and again in 1957.
Playing for Brazil
Alfredo also had the honor of playing for the Brazilian national team. He played in 10 international games for his country. He was even part of the team that went to the 1954 FIFA World Cup. Although he didn't play in any matches during the World Cup, being selected for the squad was a huge achievement.
After Playing: A Coach
After he stopped playing, Alfredo became a football coach. In the 1970s, he coached the São Paulo team, where he had played for many years. This showed his continued dedication to the sport.
