Skagit Speedway: A Racing Hotspot
The Skagit Speedway is a very popular place in Alger. It has been open for over 50 years! Racers from all over the Northwest and West Coast come here to compete. Famous drivers like Kasey Kahne raced at Skagit Speedway before becoming a big name in NASCAR Sprint Cup.
The track is a 1/3-mile oval, which means it is shaped like a big circle. It is made of special dirt (silica and clay) that helps cars go fast. The fastest sprint cars can reach speeds of almost 100 miles per hour on the track! Races usually happen on Saturday nights under bright floodlights. If you want to stay and watch, there are places to camp right at the Speedway.
