Ali İhsan Pasha (born in 1882, died December 9, 1957) was an important military leader. He was a commander for the Sixth Army of the Ottoman Empire during World War I. After the war, he was sent away to Malta by the British forces. Later, he came back to Turkey. He was then put in charge of the First Army of Turkey. However, he decided to retire shortly before a big battle called the battle of Dumlupınar.
World War I

In February 1916, Ali İhsan Pasha became the commander of the Ottoman VIII Corps. This group played a big part in the successful Siege of Kut. A siege is when an army surrounds a place to cut off supplies.
Later, in 1918, his army was defeated by the British forces. He then surrendered the remaining soldiers of the 6th Army. This happened in October 1918 at the Battle of Sharqat. This event allowed the British to take control of Mosul in early November.
