Alice Braga Moraes (born on April 15, 1983) is a talented actress and producer from Brazil. She has starred in many Brazilian films. Some of her famous roles include Angélica in City of God (2002) and Karinna in Lower City (2005).
Alice Braga became well-known around the world after acting with Will Smith in the movie I Am Legend (2007). Since then, she has appeared in many Hollywood films. These include Predators (2010), Elysium (2013), and The Suicide Squad (2021). She also played the main character, Teresa Mendoza, in the TV show Queen of the South from 2016 to 2021. In 2024, she starred in the science fiction series Dark Matter on Apple TV+.

Early Life and Acting Beginnings
Alice Braga Moraes was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She grew up in a Catholic family. She can speak Portuguese, English, and Spanish very well.
Alice started acting at a young age. Her mother, Ana Braga, and her aunt, Sônia Braga, are both actresses. Alice often went with them to film sets. She began her career by acting in school plays and commercials. Her very first commercial was for yogurt when she was only 8 years old. As a teenager, she started looking for roles in television and movies.
Alice Braga's Acting Career
Alice Braga's first acting job was in a short film called Trampolim (1998). After that, she went back to school. Her big break came when she was chosen to play Angélica in the movie City of God (2002). This film was very popular and earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
After City of God, she went to university. While studying, she acted in two other South American films: Lower City (2005) and Only God Knows (2006). She also appeared in a popular Brazilian TV show called Carandiru, Outras Historias (2005).
Making it in Hollywood
Alice Braga made her first English-language movie in 2006. It was a crime thriller called Journey to the End of Night. She starred alongside Brendan Fraser and Mos Def. This movie was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival.
She became even more famous when she acted with Will Smith in the action movie I Am Legend (2007). After that, she got roles in other big films. These included Redbelt (2008), Blindness (2008) with Julianne Moore, and Crossing Over (2009) with Harrison Ford.
In 2010, Alice Braga played Beth in the science fiction film Repo Men. She also starred as Isabelle in the action movie Predators. In 2013, she appeared as Frey Santiago in the science fiction film Elysium, alongside Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. She continued to work in various films, including The Ardor (2014) and Kill Me Three Times (2014).
In 2016, she was in the western drama The Duel. In 2017, she played Sophia in the drama The Shack, which was based on a popular novel.
Television Roles
From 2016 to 2021, Alice Braga had a lead role in the TV series Queen of the South. This show was made for USA Network and was based on a famous novel. This was her first main role in an American television series.
In 2020, Braga starred as Cecilia Reyes in the superhero horror film The New Mutants. She also appeared in the HBO miniseries We Are Who We Are. In August 2021, she was in the superhero action film The Suicide Squad.
Personal Life
Alice Braga lives in both Los Angeles, California, and São Paulo, Brazil. She is friends with actors Diego Luna and Wagner Moura.
