Alicia Boler Davis is an American engineer and a successful businesswoman. She is known for her leadership roles in big companies. Alicia started her career at General Motors (GM). She worked her way up to become a top executive there.

Later, she joined Amazon, a huge online company. At Amazon, she helped manage how products were delivered to customers worldwide. She also played a big part in Amazon's response during the COVID-19 pandemic. Alicia was the first Black executive to join Amazon's top leadership team. In 2022, she became the CEO of Alto Pharmacy, a company that delivers medicines.

Early Life and School

Alicia Boler Davis grew up with her mother and three siblings. She loved fixing things around her home. When she was in high school, she attended a special program at the General Motors Institute. This experience made her want to work for GM.

She was the first person in her family to go to a four-year college. Her sister, Kimberly Boler, went to Harvard and became a lawyer. Alicia earned her first degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University. She then got a master's degree in engineering science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Later, she earned a business degree (an MBA) from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington.

Her Amazing Career

Starting at General Motors

In 1994, Alicia Boler Davis began her career at General Motors as an engineer. She quickly showed her skills. She became the plant manager at the Michigan Orion Assembly factory. This made her the first Black woman to be a plant manager at GM. At the same time, she also managed the Pontiac Stamping plant.

Rising Through the Ranks

In 2012, Alicia was made Vice President of Customer Experience at GM. This meant she was in charge of making sure customers had a good experience with GM products. She was promoted again in 2013 to Senior Vice President for Global Customer Experience.

In 2014, she was recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the "Most Powerful Women Next Gen." She also gave a speech at the University of California, Berkeley's business school. By 2016, she became the Executive Vice President of global manufacturing. In this big role, she led about 180,000 employees! From 2016 to 2019, she also served on the board of directors for General Mills, a food company. She joined the board of Beaumont Health in 2017.

In 2018, Alicia Boler Davis received a special award: Black Engineer of the Year. She has always supported and guided other women in the car industry. She also helped lead the GM WOMEN leadership board.

Leading at Amazon

On April 1, 2019, Alicia joined Amazon as a Vice President. She was in charge of Global Customer Fulfillment. This meant she managed how Amazon delivered products, handled customer service, and used robots around the world. She quickly became one of Amazon's most important leaders.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a huge role. She helped Amazon double its delivery network and change over 150 warehouses. She also helped hire 275,000 new people to keep things running.

Becoming a CEO

In June 2022, Alicia Boler Davis was named the CEO of Alto Pharmacy. This company is a digital pharmacy startup. It helps people get their prescriptions delivered easily. Alicia chose to lead Alto Pharmacy even though she had offers from much larger companies. She wanted to help improve how people get their medicines.
