Aliya-Jasmine Sovani (born November 18, 1981), also known as AJ, is a Canadian television host and journalist. She first became famous for her work on MTV Canada. Today, she is an environmental journalist, reporting on nature and climate issues for NBC in Los Angeles.

Aliya-Jasmine has had an exciting career both in front of and behind the camera. She has worked for many well-known television channels, covering everything from music to sports and environmental news.

Getting Started in Television

Before she was a famous host, Sovani worked as a producer at the music channel MuchMusic. She also gained experience at other channels like BPM:TV, Star!, and FashionTelevision. This early work helped her learn all about how television shows are made.

Fame at MTV and Beyond

In 2006, Sovani became one of the first hosts for the new MTV Canada. She was a regular on the popular show MTV Live.

She soon created and hosted her own show on MTV called Play with AJ, which mixed sports with pop culture. She also reported the news on MTV News and hosted the talk show 1 Girl 5 .... Sovani also helped produce a show called IMPACT, which explored important social and environmental topics.

Aliya-Jasmine has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Ottawa. She also earned a certificate in Social Media & Digital Marketing from Harvard University. To follow her passion for environmental stories, she completed a Master's degree in Environmental Journalism at the University of South Carolina.

Making a Difference

Sovani is also known for her work to help others. She wrote and directed a video to raise awareness for breast cancer that became very popular online. The video was featured on shows like The View and Good Morning America.

In 2010, HELLO! magazine named her one of its 50 most beautiful Canadians.

In 2020, Sovani married Mike Bradwell, a former football player for the Toronto Argonauts. They were married at a resort in Kenya.
