A Look Back at Allendale
Allendale was started in 1855 by two men, Joel and William Allen. They planned out the town's streets and lots. The town was named after them. At first, it was called Allenville. But there was another town named Allenville, which caused problems with mail delivery. So, the name was changed to Allendale.
A post office has been open in Allendale since 1861. This means people have been sending and receiving mail there for a very long time!
Where is Allendale?
Allendale is found in the state of Missouri. It is located on Missouri Route T. This road is just north of Missouri Route 46. The town is about six miles east of Grant City. It is also about 7.5 miles southwest of Hatfield. Hatfield is in a nearby county called Harrison County.
The total area of Allendale is about 0.57 square miles. This entire area is land, with no water.
