Allison Vines-Rushing is a talented American chef. She used to own a restaurant called MiLa in New Orleans with her husband, Slade Rushing, who is also a chef. They opened MiLa in 2007. She worked there until September 13, 2014.

About Her Life

Allison Vines-Rushing was born in Louisiana. She first studied biology at Florida State University. After that, she went to the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City to learn how to cook professionally. While studying, she gained experience by working at famous restaurants like Brennan's and Gerrard’s. She finished her culinary studies in 2000.

Her Cooking Career

In 2001, Allison returned to New York City. She worked at restaurants like Picholine and with the famous chef Alain Ducasse. In 2003, she became the first chef to open Jack’s Luxury Oyster Bar.

Allison and her husband live in Broadmoor, New Orleans.

Opening Restaurants

The first restaurant Allison and Slade opened together was called Longbranch. It was located in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Its opening was delayed because of Hurricane Katrina. The restaurant closed in 2007.

Later, they opened MiLa at the Renaissance Pere Marquette Hotel. When they decided to move on from MiLa, Allison did not have immediate plans. Slade became the main chef at Brennan's.

Today, Allison works as a culinary consultant. This means she gives advice to other restaurants or food businesses.

Awards and Honors

In 2004, Allison Vines-Rushing won a special award called the Rising Star Chef. She received this award for her work at Jack's Luxury Oyster Bar in New York City.
