Allister Bain (born 1 January 1935) is an actor, playwright, and screenwriter from Grenada. He moved to the UK in 1958. He has been a part of British performing arts for many years. You might have seen him in TV shows like Us Girls, Vanity Fair, Bugs, Doctor Who, and Waking the Dead. Allister Bain has also acted in many plays by famous writers such as Derek Walcott and William Shakespeare.

Allister Bain was born in 1935 in Grenada. Grenada is an island country in the Caribbean Sea. It's located near Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In 1958, Allister moved to England. Before moving, he even taught the famous actress Dorothy Dandridge how to do the limbo dance for her film Island in the Sun in 1957.

His Early Work and Plays

Before he became well-known as an actor, Allister Bain led his own dance group. It was called the Bee Wee Ballet of Grenada. Their performances were some of the first events that helped start the famous Notting Hill Carnival in London.

Allister Bain has also written several plays. His first play, 2001 People, was written in 2001. Later, when he was 70 years old, his play Effie May was first performed in 2005. He also wrote Catalysta in 2008 and Pardon My Simplicity, which opened in January 2012 at the Rosemary Branch Theatre. Allister Bain is also the author of a book called One Slice of History, which came out in 2012.
