Where Allium pallasii Lives

Allium pallasii is found in dry, open areas. It likes places that are not too wet, such as deserts and wide, grassy plains known as steppes. This plant can grow quite high up, from around 600 meters (about 2,000 feet) to 2,300 meters (about 7,500 feet) above sea level.

What Allium pallasii Looks Like

This wild onion has a round bulb, which is like a small underground storage part, up to 20 millimeters (about 0.8 inches) wide. It grows a stem, called a scape, that can reach up to 30 centimeters (about 12 inches) tall.

The leaves of Allium pallasii are shaped like tubes and are shorter than its stem. They are quite narrow, growing up to 2.5 millimeters (about 0.1 inches) wide. When this plant blooms, its flowers are a pretty pale red or pale purple color.
