How Aloha State Park Began

From Railway Land to State Park

Aloha State Park has an interesting past. It started with just eight acres of land. This land used to be a park owned by the Detroit and Mackinac Railway. Cheboygan County bought this land.

To make it a state park, more land was needed. The county added another twenty acres. This brought the total to 28 acres. This was the minimum size required for a state park back then. In 1923, all this land was given to the state of Michigan. That's how Aloha State Park officially became a place for everyone to enjoy!
