History of Alpena
Alpena was officially planned out in 1883. This means its streets and lots were drawn on a map. It was probably named after Alpena, Michigan. That was the home of the person who helped start the town. A post office has been open in Alpena since 1883. This means people have been sending and receiving mail there for a long time.
