The Alsodes tumultuosus frog lives in habitats that are cool and green. Its favorite places are temperate grasslands, which are like open fields with lots of grass. It also likes to live near rivers. These rivers provide the water it needs for its young and for staying moist. The specific area it calls home is Farellones, a region known for its natural beauty in central Chile.
What Threats Does It Face?
Sadly, the Alsodes tumultuosus frog is facing challenges. It is currently listed as "Vulnerable" by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). This means its numbers are going down, and it could become endangered if things don't change. The biggest problem for this frog is habitat loss. This happens when the places where it lives, like grasslands and rivers, are destroyed or changed by human activities. For example, building new roads or towns can take away the frog's home. Protecting its natural habitat is very important to help this special frog survive.
