The Alsodes vittatus is a special kind of frog that belongs to the Alsodidae family. It's a very rare frog, and scientists are still trying to learn more about it.

Meet the Alsodes Vittatus Frog

This unique frog is endemic to Chile. This means it is found only in Chile and nowhere else in the world! So far, it has only been seen in one specific place. This place is called San Ignacio de Pemehue, which is in the Malleco Province.

Why Is This Frog So Hard to Find?

The Alsodes vittatus frog is very hard to find. It has not been seen since it was first discovered a long time ago. Scientists looked for it in 1995, 1996, and 2002, but they could not find any.

One reason it might be hard to find is that its home is changing. Its natural habitat (the place where it lives) is being lost. This is happening because of new pine tree farms. Also, this frog does not live in any special protected areas. This makes it even harder to keep its home safe.
