Alvin Queen is a talented jazz drummer. He was born in the Bronx, New York, on August 16, 1950. A jazz drummer plays the drums in a special style of music called jazz.
Alvin started playing music at a very young age. When he was just 16, he was already playing with famous musicians like Ruth Brown and Don Pullen. He also joined the Wild Bill Davis trio.
As he got older, Alvin played with many other great artists. He worked with trombonist Benny Green and guitarist Tiny Grimes. He even took the place of Billy Cobham in the Horace Silver quintet. Alvin also played with the George Benson quartet.
In the 1970s, Alvin lived in Canada. Later, in 1979, he moved to Switzerland. There, he started his own music company called Nilva. The name "Nilva" is actually his first name, Alvin, spelled backward!
