Alysha Angelica Clark (Hebrew: אלישה קלארק) is a professional basketball player. She was born on July 7, 1987. Alysha plays for the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She is known for her strong defense and making important shots.

Alysha has won three WNBA championships. She won with the Seattle Storm in 2018 and 2020. She also won with the Las Vegas Aces in 2023. In 2023, she was named the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year. Before joining the WNBA, she led college basketball in scoring for three years in a row. She also won championships in Poland and France.

Early Life and High School Basketball

Alysha Clark was born in Denver, Colorado. Her parents, Jan and Duane Clark, were both musicians. She is the younger sister of Corey Clark, who was on American Idol.

Alysha's family later moved to Mount Juliet, Tennessee. She went to Mt. Juliet High School there. In high school, she was a star basketball player. In her senior year, she scored about 24 points and grabbed 11.6 rebounds per game. She was named an AAU All-American. She also won the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year award.

Alysha's maternal grandparents were Jewish. Because of this, she was considered Jewish when she started playing basketball in Israel. She later became an Israeli citizen.

College Basketball Journey

Alysha started her college basketball career at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She played there for two years. As a freshman, she was a top scorer and rebounder. She was named the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Player of the Year. She also won the Freshman of the Year award. In her second year, she was again named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year.

After two years at Belmont, Alysha moved to Middle Tennessee State University. She had to sit out one season because of college transfer rules. In the 2008–09 season, she led all college players in scoring with 27.3 points per game. She also led her conference in rebounds.

In the 2009–10 season, she again led all college players in scoring, averaging 28.3 points per game. She was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year twice. Alysha is the first basketball player ever to be named Player of the Year in two different college conferences. She was added to the Middle Tennessee Hall of Fame in 2020.

Professional Basketball Career

Alysha Clark was chosen in the second round of the 2010 WNBA draft. The San Antonio Silver Stars picked her as the 17th overall player. However, she did not play in the WNBA during her first two years.

Playing Overseas

During the WNBA off-season, Alysha played basketball in other countries. From 2010 to 2013, she played for Ramat Hasharon in Israel. She was named the Domestic Player of the Year there. She also played for Maccabi Ashdod in Israel from 2014 to 2016. She was named Player of the Year for that team. After Israel, she played in Turkey and then Poland. In 2018, she helped CCC Polkowice win a Polish championship. She was named the league's Most Valuable Player. The next year, she won a championship in France with her team, Lyon Asvel.

WNBA Success with Seattle Storm

In 2012, Alysha signed with the Seattle Storm. She became a key player for the team. In 2019, she was named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. In 2020, she was chosen for the All-Defensive First Team.

In 2018, Alysha started every game when the Storm won the WNBA Championship. She played a big role in guarding star player Diana Taurasi in the Western Conference Finals. In the final game against the Washington Mystics, Alysha played the most minutes for her team and scored 15 points.

In February 2021, Alysha signed with the Washington Mystics. However, she could not play during the 2021 WNBA season. This was because of a foot injury she got while playing in France.

Recent Teams and Achievements

In December 2022, Alysha signed with the Israeli champions Elitzur Ramla. She played there until the end of the season.

In February 2023, Alysha joined the Las Vegas Aces. On September 18, 2023, she won the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year Award. She helped the Aces win the WNBA championship in 2023.

On February 9, 2025, Alysha Clark signed with the Seattle Storm again. This is the team where she played for the first nine years of her WNBA career.

Off the Court

Helping Others

In February 2024, Alysha Clark joined the WNBA Changemakers Collective. She became a mentor with VOICEINSPORT (VIS). This program helps keep girls involved in sports. It also helps them become leaders on and off the court.
