- The opening scene of the 1955 film Oklahoma! was filmed here. This is where the song "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" is sung by Gordon MacRae while he rides a horse through tall cornfields.
- A scene from the movie Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore was also filmed in Amado. It took place at the Long Horn Grill, a well-known restaurant with a unique entrance shaped like a large cow skull.
