Amado Guevara, born on May 2, 1976, is a famous Honduran former professional football (soccer) player and coach. He played as an attacking midfielder. Amado is known for being one of the top players for the Honduras national team. He was even named the Best Player at the 2001 Copa América tournament!

Playing Career
Club Teams Around the World
Amado Guevara, often called El Lobo (The Wolf), started his football journey in Honduras. He played for clubs like Club Deportivo Olimpia and F.C. Motagua.
He then traveled the world to play football! He played in Spain for Real Valladolid, in Mexico for Toros Neza and CD Zacatepec, and in Costa Rica for Deportivo Saprissa.
Playing in Major League Soccer (MLS)
In 2003, Amado joined the MetroStars (now called New York Red Bulls) in the MLS in the United States. He quickly became a star player.
In his first season, he scored goals and helped his teammates score too. He also helped the MetroStars reach their first-ever final in a cup competition.
His second season in 2004 was amazing! Amado scored 10 goals and had 10 assists, which means he helped set up 10 goals for his team. He was the top scorer in the league and was even named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the MLS.
In 2005, he continued to play well, scoring 11 goals and making 11 assists. He was a key player for his team.
After the 2006 season, Amado moved to Chivas USA. He later went back to his old club, F.C. Motagua, on loan. There, he helped them win the Central American Club Championship in 2007.
Time with Toronto FC
In 2008, Amado Guevara joined Toronto FC in Canada. He quickly became a fan favorite because of his exciting runs and amazing free kicks. He scored 9 goals for Toronto FC during his time there.
In December 2009, Amado left Toronto FC to return to F.C. Motagua in Honduras. In 2010, his former team, Toronto FC, played against Motagua in a big tournament. Even though Amado scored two goals, Motagua lost the game.
Amado Guevara played his last professional game in 2015, retiring from football after playing for C.D. Marathón.
Playing for Honduras
Amado Guevara played for the Honduras national team for many years, from 1994 to 2010. He played in 138 games for his country and scored 27 goals. This makes him one of the players with the most games played for Honduras.
He helped Honduras qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which is one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. He was the captain of the team during this World Cup.
One of his most famous moments was at the 2001 Copa América tournament. Honduras was a last-minute replacement team. They surprised everyone by beating Brazil, who were favorites to win! Honduras finished in third place, and Amado was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Amado Guevara became a football coach. From 2018 to 2019, he was the coach for the Puerto Rico national team.
In 2023, he joined Carolina Core FC as an assistant manager, helping to coach the team for their first season in 2024.
