The Amaggi Group (Brazilian Portuguese: Grupo Amaggi) is a very large company from Brazil. It works with commodities, which are basic goods like crops. Amaggi is especially known for its work with soybeans. In fact, it is the biggest private producer of soybeans in the whole world!
This company sells over $9 billion worth of goods each year. It is a major Brazilian company that sends its products to many places. These places include countries in Europe and the United States.
How Amaggi Started
The Amaggi Group was started in 1977 by a man named André Maggi. He was of Italian background. At first, his company focused on producing seeds for farming.
Growing the Business
In the 1980s, André Maggi bought large areas of land in a Brazilian state called Mato Grosso. This is where he began growing soybeans. He even helped build a city there called Sapezal.
New Leaders
André Maggi passed away in 2001. After his death, his son, Blairo Maggi, took over the company. Later, in late 2017, Judiney Carvalho became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amaggi. He leads the company today.
