Amanda Ingrid Seales (born July 1, 1981), also known as Amanda Diva, is a talented American actress, comedian, and media personality. She is well-known for her role in the HBO comedy series Insecure, where she played Tiffany DuBois from 2017 to 2021.

Amanda also has her own stand-up comedy special called I Be Knowin, which came out in 2019. In 2020, she started a fun and educational game show called Smart Funny & Black. This show celebrates Black culture, history, and experiences. She was also a co-host on the daytime talk show, The Real.

Early Life

Amanda Seales was born in Inglewood, California, on July 1, 1981. Her mother is from Grenada, a beautiful island country. Her father is African-American. This means Amanda and her mother are citizens of both the U.S. and Grenada.

In 1989, Amanda moved to Orlando, Florida. She went to Dr. Phillips High School there. After high school, she studied at SUNY-Purchase. She then earned a master's degree in African-American studies from Columbia University. Her studies focused on Hip hop culture.

Career

Film and Television

Amanda Seales started acting at a young age. Her first movie role was in Cop and a Half in 1993. The next year, she appeared on the Nickelodeon show My Brother and Me.

Later, she became known as "VJ Amanda Diva" on MTV2's Sucker Free Countdown. In 2016, she joined the cast of the HBO series Insecure. She played Tiffany DuBois, a recurring character. That same year, Amanda also began hosting her own show on truTV called Greatest Ever.

In 2019, her first stand-up comedy special, I Be Knowin, was released on HBO. She also hosted Bring the Funny, a comedy competition show on NBC.

From 2019 to 2020, Amanda was a frequent guest host on the talk show The Real. She became a permanent co-host in January 2020 but left after six months. She felt she couldn't openly discuss important social issues on the show. In 2020, she also hosted the BET Awards 2020.

In 2022, Amanda was featured in a documentary series called Everything's Gonna Be All White on Showtime. She has also appeared as a guest or contestant on many other TV shows, including Black-ish, Hip Hop Squares, To Tell the Truth, and Wheel of Fortune.

Music

Amanda Seales has also had a career in music. In 2007, she went on tour with Marsha Ambrosius. Later that year, she released her first music collection, an extended play (EP) called Life Experience.

In 2008, she was featured on the song "Manwomanboogie" with Q-Tip. This song was part of his album The Renaissance, which was nominated for a Grammy award. In 2009, Amanda released another EP titled Spandex, Rhymes & Soul. She also released other EPs and mixtapes, such as Madame Monochrome and Technicolor Lover.

Amanda Seales hosts a popular weekly podcast called Small Doses. On this podcast, she shares her thoughts and advice on various topics.

Game Show
