Amauri Carvalho de Oliveira (born 3 June 1980), known simply as Amauri, is a former footballer. He played as a striker.
Amauri was born in Brazil. He later became an Italian citizen. This allowed him to play for the Italian national team once in 2010. He played for many famous clubs like Parma, Juventus, and Fiorentina.

Amauri's Football Journey
Starting in Brazil and Switzerland
Amauri started his football training at Palmeiras in Brazil. He was 19 when he got a chance to play in Italy. His team, Santa Catarina Clube, was invited to a youth tournament called the 2000 Torneo di Viareggio. There, he impressed scouts and was signed by Bellinzona, a club in Switzerland. He scored one goal in five games for them.
Playing for Parma and Other Italian Clubs
After playing in Switzerland, Amauri moved to Italy. He joined Napoli in 2000. Later, he moved to Parma. He made his Serie A debut, which is Italy's top football league, on 14 April 2001.
Amauri was often loaned out to other teams to gain experience. He played for Piacenza in the 2001–02 season. He also played for Messina in Serie B, Italy's second league, during the 2002–03 season. He scored four goals in 23 games for Messina.
Time at Chievo Verona
In 2003, Amauri joined Chievo. He became a very important player for the team. He helped Chievo qualify for the UEFA Champions League preliminary rounds in the 2005–06 season. This was a big achievement for the club. He showed a lot of his skill during his time there.
Moving to Palermo
On 31 August 2006, Amauri was transferred to Palermo. He quickly became a fan favorite. He scored eight goals in 18 league matches by December 2006. However, a serious knee injury stopped him from playing for seven months. He recovered and continued to be a key player for Palermo, scoring 15 goals in the 2007–08 season.
Playing for Juventus and Loans
On 30 May 2008, Amauri made a big move to Juventus, one of Italy's biggest clubs. He played regularly and scored 11 goals in his first Serie A season with Juventus.
The 2009–10 season was tougher for Amauri. He scored only six goals in 30 matches, which led to some criticism from fans.
In January 2011, Amauri went back to Parma on loan. He had a great time there, scoring seven goals in 11 games. He helped Parma stay in Serie A. After his loan, he returned to Juventus but did not play much.
In 2012, Amauri moved to Fiorentina. He scored only one goal for them, but it was a very important one. His goal against Milan helped Juventus win the league title that season.
Returning to Parma and Torino
On 2 July 2012, Amauri returned to Parma for his third time. He signed a four-year contract. He continued to score important goals for Parma. In one match, he scored three goals in 13 minutes against Torino, helping his team win 4–1.
On 1 September 2014, Amauri joined Torino. He scored his first goal for them in the UEFA Europa League. He also scored his first Serie A goal for Torino in a 5–1 win against Sampdoria. In the 2015–16 season, he played only two matches and then left the club.
Playing in the United States
In 2016, Amauri moved to the United States. He signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the NASL. He scored five goals in 13 games for them.
In 2017, he joined the New York Cosmos. He played three games before being released in August 2017.
Amauri's International Career
Amauri was born in Brazil, but he later became an Italian citizen. This made him eligible to play for the Italian national team.
In 2009, the Brazilian coach Dunga wanted Amauri to play for Brazil. However, Amauri decided he wanted to play for Italy instead.
After getting his Italian citizenship in April 2010, Amauri was finally able to play for Italy. On 6 August 2010, he received his first call-up for the Italian national team. He played in a friendly match against Ivory Coast on 10 August. This was his only game for Italy.
How Amauri Played
Amauri was known as a strong player with good technique. He was excellent at heading the ball. He was good at finding chances to score goals inside the penalty area. He was also a hardworking player who could create space for his teammates. He usually played as a main striker, but he could also play alongside another forward.
Amauri's Personal Life
Amauri is married to Cynthia, who is also from Brazil. They met when he was playing for Napoli. They have a daughter named Cindy and a son named Hugo Leonardo. Cynthia became an Italian citizen in March 2009. This allowed Amauri to get his Italian citizenship in April 2010 during a ceremony in Turin.
