The History of Amberson
The area around Amberson has a long history. In 1761, the larger Fannett Township was officially created. At that time, it was part of Cumberland County.
Just two years later, in 1763, a person named Francis Amberson settled in this valley. He was one of the early settlers. There might have been other people living there even before Francis Amberson arrived.
Later, in 1784, a new county was formed. This new county was named Franklin County. Fannett Township, including the Amberson area, became part of this new Franklin County.
