Ami James (born April 6, 1972) is a famous tattoo artist from both Israel and the United States. He is also known for being on TV and for starting his own businesses.

Early Life and Growing Up
Ami James was born in a city called Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. At that time, this area was under the control of Israel. His father, who was American, became Jewish before moving to Israel. In Israel, his father joined the army and met Ami's mother, who had moved there from Romania.
Ami lived in both Israel and Egypt when he was very young. When he was four years old, his father left the family. Ami has said that he had ADD, which made it hard for him to focus sometimes. He found comfort and interest in art and tattooing from a young age. His father also had tattoos and enjoyed painting.
When Ami was about 11, he moved to the United States. He lived with his grandparents for a short time before moving to Miami, Florida, when he was 12. At 15, Ami got his very first tattoo. This experience made him want to become a tattoo artist himself. Later, during his teenage years, Ami moved back to Israel. He joined the Israel Defense Forces, serving as an infantry sniper.
Ami James's Career
Ami James began his journey to become a tattoo artist in 1992. He started learning from another tattoo artist named Lou at a place called Tattoos By Lou.
Tattoo Studios and TV Shows
Ami is well-known for being the co-owner of a tattoo shop in Miami Beach, Florida, called Love Hate Tattoos. He owns it with his friend Chris Núñez. This tattoo shop became famous because it was featured on a reality television show called Miami Ink, which aired on the TLC channel.
Later, Ami decided to open a new tattoo studio in New York City. This led to a new TV show called NY Ink, which started in June 2011. The show was very popular, and its second season began in December 2011.
In November 2012, Ami James opened another tattoo studio, 'Love Hate Social Club', in London, United Kingdom. Many other talented tattoo artists, like Darren Brass, Megan Massacre, and Chris Núñez, worked there as guest artists.
Other Businesses and Projects
Besides his tattoo shops, Ami James has been involved in other businesses. He co-owns a clothing company called DeVille with Chris Núñez and Jesse Fleet. He also co-owns a nightclub in Miami called Love Hate Lounge with Núñez and two other friends.
Ami has also designed special looks for Motorola's RAZR V3 mobile phones. He has invested in a jewelry line called Love Hate Choppers Jewelry.
In 2013, Ami James worked with PETA, an animal rights organization, for their "Ink Not Mink" campaign. This campaign encourages people to get tattoos instead of wearing fur.
Ami also helped create an online platform called Tattoodo. This platform, launched in May 2013, helps people get custom tattoo designs.
In 2022, Ami James became a judge on the popular tattoo competition show Ink Master for its fourteenth season. He took over from Chris Núñez and Oliver Peck.
