Amigos x siempre (which means Friends 4 Ever in English) is a fun Mexican children's telenovela. A telenovela is like a long TV drama series, often with many episodes. This show was made by Rosy Ocampo for Televisa. It first aired on January 10, 2000, and finished on June 16, 2000.
The main grown-up characters were played by Adriana Fonseca (later by Lourdes Reyes) and Ernesto Laguardia. The main child stars were Belinda and Martín Ricca. Some of the characters who caused trouble were played by Odiseo Bichir, Rebeca Mankita, and Germán Robles. The famous actress Carmen Montejo also had a special role.
The story takes place at a fancy but very strict school called Instituto Vidal. The owner and headmistress, Julia Vidal, used to be a kind person. But she became sad and tough after her husband and daughter, Lauriel, passed away.
Julia's granddaughter, Ana, is a sweet and smart 10-year-old. She was also deeply affected by the family's loss. Because of the sadness, she barely spoke. But Ana could express herself through music and had an amazing power to move things with her mind! Ana's dad, Francisco Capistrán, was not a good person. He tried to use the situation to take over Julia's school.
But then, Ana's uncle, Salvador, arrived with Amanda and her adopted son. Their arrival changed everything! Ana's lonely life became much happier. She found her joy again through many exciting adventures, filled with humor, music, and surprising moments.
What the Story is About
The show is about a group of kids from different backgrounds who become great friends. They connect through their love for music. Ana, a child who has faced many challenges, learns to laugh again thanks to Pedro. Pedro is a free spirit who doesn't like the school's strict rules and loves to sing.
Here are some of the friends in the group:
- Santiago: A rich kid who was mostly raised by his maid.
- Lourdes: A shy girl who spends a lot of time caring for her brother, Carlitos.
- Patricia: A lonely girl who dreams of becoming rich, no matter what it takes.
- Gilberto: He stutters a lot, which makes his self-centered parents feel embarrassed.
- Renata: She tries hard to get her father's attention. Her dad thinks girls aren't important, so she tries to act like a boy.
- "El 7 Leguas": A boy from a poor family who isn't allowed to attend the fancy school. He is very loyal and clever.
- Carlitos: He has Down Syndrome and tries hard to show everyone that kids with disabilities have feelings, care for others, and can help society.
- Rafa: A chubby boy who is in love with Patricia. He's very smart and writes songs for the group.
The show was also broadcast in Indonesia by SCTV between 2001 and 2002.
